About Auswest Timbers
 




Auswest Timbers Pty Ltd was established in 1996 when it acquired a hardwood sawmill in Busselton, Western Australia.



The business has grown significantly over the past decade and now operates three sawmills, two value adding facilities and one trade outlet, which employ a total of 150 people.

Auswest manufacture a diverse range of timber products ranging from large heavy structural sections, floor joist, roofing timbers and roof tile battens. Value added kiln dried and dressed products include floor boards, decking, veneer and furniture timbers.

The company’s output is sold into a distribution network that covers all of the Australian states, together with export activities to countries including, United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Africa, Indonesia, Korea, Holland, Canada and the United States.

The sawmill operations of the company are located as follows:

  • Western Australia – Pemberton, the largest hardwood sawmill in the southern hemisphere. Processing Karri hardwood (Eucalyptus Divgrsicolour) and Pine.
  • Victoria – Orbost, processing mixed hardwood species.
  • A.C.T – Fyshwick, processing Radiata pine roofing battens.

Value adding facilities located in Bairnsdale, Victoria and Pemberton, Western Australia process unique Australian timbers which vary from the characteristic “Australian Wormy Chestnut” to the deep pinks of “Karri”.

To maintain its continuing growth and investment in the future of the business the Company has recently developed a value adding complex at the Pemberton plant. It has also recently completed an upgrade of its Fyshwick mill, and purchased Bairnsdale processing plant.
